Judgement in Presidential trial to be televised live


In a recent report by Punch on September 4th, 2023, it was stated that the Court of Appeal has issued a public announcement regarding the delivery of judgments in specific petitions before the Presidential Election Petition Court. The judgments are scheduled to be delivered on Wednesday, September 6th, 2023. The petitions mentioned in the announcement include CA/PEPC/03/2023 between Mr. Peter Gregory Obi & Anor VS. Independent National Electoral Commission & 3 Ors, CA/PEPC/04/2023 between Allied Peoples Movement VS. Independent National Electoral Commission & 4 Ors, and CA/PEPC/05/2023 between Abubakar Atiku & Anor VS. Independent National Electoral Commission & 2 Ors. 

To ensure transparency and openness, the Court of Appeal has decided to broadcast these judgments live on interested television stations. This allows the public to follow the proceedings closely. 

In terms of access to the courtroom on the day of judgment, only accredited individuals, including counsel and representatives of political parties, will be permitted entry. The Court premises will strictly grant access based on accreditation. Members of the public who are interested in observing the proceedings are advised to watch them from the comfort of their homes through television broadcasts. The Court of Appeal kindly requests the maximum cooperation of the general public to ensure a smooth and problem-free process.
