By Ugochukwu Alaribe

Unknown gunmen have shot a former Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, Aba Branch, Sir Chidozie Ogunji, as he drove into his residence along Ikot Ekpene Road, Ogbor Hill, Aba. Sunday Vanguard gathered that Ogunji was on his way home from work at about 8.30pm without knowing that the gunmen had laid ambush close to his residence.

According to a resident of the area who spoke to Sunday Vanguard, “Chidozie Ogunji is an easygoing and peace loving person, who could have plotted him? He was just coming back at the end of the day’s work. As he drove into his residence, the gunmen joined him. Before he knew what was happening, the gunmen, who I believe, were kidnappers, attempted to force him into the boot of his car, but he resisted them. After the failed attempt, they shot him and sped off.” It was also gathered that the gunmen shot Ogunji on the leg, took away his Toyota Corolla vehicle and other valuables they could lay their hands on, leaving him in a pool of his own blood.
