Police apprehend pastor accused of killing girl in Delta community

A man in his middle age, identified as Alex Itedjere and believed to be a pastor, has been taken into custody for allegedly using a machete to kill a young girl in the Agbarha-Otor community of Delta State. The victim's body was found in the pastor's house in the agricultural community. Sources indicate that the cleric used a machete to end the young girl's life. However, the specific details surrounding the motive for the killing are still unclear at this time. In response to the gruesome incident, angry youths from the community reportedly stormed the pastor's house seeking retribution. They were on the verge of lynching him, but security operatives were called in by concerned leaders and managed to intervene in time to prevent further violence. Comrade Israel Joe, a human rights activist, swiftly demanded justice for the deceased girl and appealed to the state Commissioner of Police, CP Wale Abass, to initiate a thorough investigation into the incident and ensure that the accused person is prosecuted in accordance with the laws of the land. Unfortunately, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe, was not available for comment at the time of reporting. However, a senior security source from the command confirmed that the suspect was apprehended earlier today.

Bishop Oyedepo explains the reason behind his fleet of private jets

Bishop David Oyedepo, the founder of the Living Faith Church Worldwide, also known as Winners Chapel, recently explained why he acquired a fleet of private jets. According to him, the reason behind this is the abundant blessings he believes God has bestowed upon him.

During a sermon at his church, Bishop Oyedepo emphasized that his church is now able to change planes like one would change bicycles, all because of God's blessings. He stated that when God first revealed to him that he would fly, he and his church did not actively pursue it through human efforts.

Bishop Oyedepo further explained that God informed them they would fly, and if they were left to plan for it themselves, it would not have been included in their budget for the next ten years. He attributed their ability to change planes effortlessly to God's blessings, which have made them rich without any accompanying sorrow.

Regarding the acquisition of the private jets, Bishop Oyedepo shared that they did not pray or confess specifically for a particular type of plane. When asked about the type of plane, he responded that any kind would suffice, as he wasn't actively shopping for one.

In addition to discussing the private jets, Bishop Oyedepo addressed the Ark Project and clarified that the church had not announced any offering requirements at their Canaanland or branch locations. He emphasized that despite fluctuations in the dollar-to-naira exchange rate, the project has not faced any financial pressure from external sources.

On the topic of tithes, Bishop Oyedepo highlighted the biblical significance of tithing and mentioned that those who faithfully pay their tithes do not experience lack. He cited the example of John D. Rockefeller, who was a prominent tither and ultimately became the first American billionaire in history. Bishop Oyedepo emphasized that people do not lack what they give, but rather what they choose to keep, and he believes in the principle of tithing as a means of financial sustainability.

Election delay: Churches, prophets boast of prophecy fulfilment

Since the announcement of the postponement of the
general elections by a week , some clerics and their
followers have started boasting that the development
is a fulfilment of their prophecies.

The prophets , in videos posted on their various social
media pages and promoted in paid adverts , also
claimed that the shift in the election date confirmed
that their callings were divine.

Some Nigerians , however , said the men only
exploited the weakness in the system to deceive their
congregations .

Christ Mercyland Deliverance Ministry , a church in
Warri , Delta State , made a 12 - minute documentary to
prove the accuracy of the prophecy of its General
Overseer , Prophet Jeremiah Fufeyin .
Fufeyin , who reportedly hosted a church programme
on February 7 , was shown predicting that the
election would be postponed .
“ I know who will win the election 2019 ; the
presidential election . As a prophet , I don ’ t have time
( to say ) who and who will win election . I told you
people that on the 16 th of February , the presidential
election will not hold; they will shift it . The date is
going to another date. When they shift the date ,
know that what Prophet Jeremiah Fufeyin is telling
you is true and know you have a prophet among you .
“ The supernatural controls the physical . In the
supernatural, they have shifted it . That is why I
know it and I am seeing it . So , if you hear the
election has been shifted, don ’ t be surprised, ” he said
in the video .

A church in Apo , Abuja , Shiloh Word Chapel, in a
video on its Facebook page, also said the
postponement was a fulfilment of its leader ’ s
prophecy.
The head of the church , Prophet I . O. Samuel , in the
video that he also posted on his Instagram page, said
he saw cancellations and change of dates.
He said , “ Nigerians pray for February ; I am seeing a
lot of cancellation . I am seeing scatter - scatter . Touch
your neighbour , say , ‘ Pray for Nigeria ’ . I see
cancellation and shifting ; change of dates and timing .
We are to pray . Nigeria is sitting on gunpowder; thus
saith the Lord of host . ”

Chairman of INEC , Prof Mahmood Yakubu ,
announced the postponement of the election .
Also , the Senior Pastor of Restoration Charismatic
Ministries , Asaba , Delta State , Prophet Julius
Ekweozor , claimed the postponement was a
fulfilment of his prophecy.
He reportedly delivered his prophecy during prayers
on February 3 , when he held a service at the Indoor
Sports Hall of the Stephen Keshi Stadium , Asaba .
The senior pastor of Omega Fire Ministries , Apostle
Johnson Suleiman, during a crusade in Onitsha,
Anambra State , on January 9 , was said to have also
told his congregation that the election would be
shifted.
“ Can I surprise you? If we do not pray well , I don ’ t
see election . I saw a date that was shifted. They will
give you lies and security reasons , ” he said in a video
posted on Youtube .
Some Nigerians , who reacted to the videos, said the
clerics only made informed guesses .
On Nairaland , a social media platform , a member
with the alias, dazzling , said he also expected the
postponement.
“… I know more than 100 people that made the same
prediction . I personally expected postponement as
usual . Nothing special … , ” he wrote .
Another user , cidiechat , said the postponement
showed that the clerics and their members did not
pray well .
A reader with the alias, shrimati , wondered why
Nigerians always heard about the prophecies after
the events .
On Instagram , one kevmillz _ 1983 said , “ You don ’ t
need a prophet to tell you that a dysfunctional
country will do dysfunctional things . ”
However , one rendieoma said a true prophet would
be known when his prophecies came to pass .

discovered a shallow grave.
“They dug it and they saw birds buried alive,
close to the grave there was blood stains.

They saw flesh which only the hospital can
analyse. Seven people have been arrested
including the said pastor of the church.”
An eyewitness, Linus Ita, alleged that some
corpses were exhumed from the shallow grave.
He said, “The pastor killed a small child in the
early hours of Thursday and that was what
brought out his diabolic activities. Someone
sighted him when he was digging the ground
to bury the child. They discovered at least five
corpses in the grave and other items.

“Apart from dead bodies exhumed at the site
of the incident, there were also woman’s
panties found at the place. The pictures of
people who visited the place for assignment
littered the ground after the place was brought
down.”
Another eyewitness, Mary Okoro, said on
Wednesday, a lady had lamented that her
child was missing, unfortunately some strange
movements were noticed in the church at
about 3am on Thursday.
“It was that strange movement that gave the
clue that something was not adding up in the
church. At that point, some persons went to
report the matter to the police that they
suspected foul play around the church.

That
was how the grave was discovered,” she said.
Although Okoro could not confirm the number
of dead bodies exhumed from the shallow
grave, she said the angry mob decided to burn
down the church after they discovered that the
pastor’s activities were fetish.
