How to Prevent Pregnancy #pregnancy
Knowing how to prevent pregnancy can seem daunting, especially since there are so many birth control options to choose from. The birth control you use is a personal choice that should be carefully considered. Educating yourself on the various methods is the first step to finding the one that fits with your lifestyle and beliefs.
Method One of Five:
Barrier Methods
-
Condoms. Latex condoms are worn on the penis during intercourse. They prevent pregnancy by keeping semen from coming into contact with fertile eggs. Condoms are often given out for free at health clinics, and they're available for over-the-counter purchase for about $1.00 a piece at drug stores and grocery stores. An added benefit of condoms is that they protect both parties from sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) as well as pregnancy.Condoms are made from thin latex, so they occasionally tear during intercourse. When this happens, the chances of pregnancy go up.[1]Some people have allergies to latex condoms, and choose condoms made of plastic instead.
-
Female condoms. Also made of latex, female condoms are shaped like a ring with a pouch. The pouch fits inside the vagina, while the ring stays outside the body to hold it in place. They collect semen during intercourse so it never has a chance to enter the woman's body. Female condoms cost about $4.00 a piece and are available at drugstores.Female condoms reduce the risk of STDs by protecting the vagina from directly getting touched.Female condoms are slightly less effective than regular condoms, and some people say that they are less comfortable to use.
-
Diaphragms. These shallow cups made of silicone are inserted inside the vagina and over the cervix to prevent semen from contacting an egg. They are commonly used in combination with spermicidal jelly, which prevents sperm from moving, in order to increase efficacy.Since every woman's body is a slightly different shape, diaphragms must be fitted to make sure they're the right size. Talk to your gynecologist or health clinic worker about getting fitting for a diaphragm.Diaphragms are quite effective, but they don't prevent the transmission of STDs.
Hormonal Birth Control
-
Birth control pills. Birth control pills, often referred to in shorthand as "the Pill," consist of synthetic estrogen and progestin hormones that keep a woman's eggs from leaving her ovaries, so that pregnancy can't happen.[4] When taken properly, they are extremely effective. Contraceptive pills are available on a prescription-only basis from your gynecologist or health care provider. The Pill must be taken every day, at the same time each day, to work properly. Skipping a few days could decrease its efficacy. The Pill causes some women to experience side effects. Different brands of pills have different levels of estrogen and progestin, so your doctor may prescribe a different brand if one seems to be causing negative side effects.
-
Other hormonal devices. The same hormones that make birth control pills effective can be distributed to the body by other means. If you don't like taking pills every day, consider these options:Depo-Provera, or the birth control shot. This shot is administered in the arm once every three months. The shot is very effective at preventing pregnancy, but it has been reported that side effects are possible.
The birth control patch. The patch is usually placed on the arm, back or thigh. It distributes hormones through the skin and has to be replaced every few weeks.
The birth control ring. The ring is inserted into the vagina once a month. It releases hormones to prevent pregnancy from occurring.
The birth control implant. A small rod is inserted in the arm, and it releases hormones to prevent pregnancy for up to three years. It must be inserted and removed by a health care provider. -
Intrauterine Devices (IUDs). The IUD is a small metal device inserted in the uterus by a health care provider. One type of IUD works by releasing hormones, and another type is made of copper, which affects the mobility of sperm and stops them from fertilizing the egg.[8]IUDs are extremely effective and last up to 12 years, although they can cost from $500 to $1,000.If you're concerned about disrupting your menstrual cycle, consider the copper IUD, which doesn't interfere with your hormones or cause hormonal birth control-related side effects.
Behavioral Methods
- Abstinence. Abstaining from vaginal intercourse prevents pregnancy by preventing the man's semen from coming into contact with the woman's egg. Abstinence is one hundred percent effective in preventing pregnancy when it is used continuously. Some people define abstinence as abstaining from all sexual contact, but in order to prevent pregnancy, only vaginal intercourse needs to be avoided.Abstinence requires strong willpower, and some people might find it difficult to rely on this birth control method for long periods of time. It's important to have another birth control method in place once abstinence is ended.
-
Fertility awareness. Also called natural family planning, this method of birth control requires having sex only during times of the menstrual cycle when the woman is not fertile. During times when pregnancy would be possible, periodic abstinence is employed. For fertility awareness to be effective, the practitioner must understand and respect the perimeters of her fertility.Fertility awareness often involves three different waysforr
calculating fertility: the calendar method, the mucus method, and the temperature method. Used together, these three methods are very effective at determining exactly when a woman is fertile. The calendar method requires tracking the different phases of the menstrual cycle on a calendar, then noticing patterns over time and using the patterns to predict when ovulation will occur.
The mucus method involves checking vaginal mucus, which changes in color and consistency when a woman is fertile.
The temperature method involves checking the body's basal temperature every day and noticing when it goes up a few tenths of degree, which signals that ovulation has occurred.
The downside of fertility awareness is that it requires a lot of time and attention. If you forget to check mucus or temperature for a few days, you may miscalculate the days during which sex should be avoided. The upside of fertility awareness is that it its completely natural, requiring almost no money, no outside hormones, and no uncomfortable devices.
- Female sterilization. Surgery is conducted to close off the fallopian tubes in a process called tubal ligation, preventing the possibility of pregnancy. This method is extremely effective at preventing pregnancy, but it is not to be taken lightly, since it is difficult or impossible to reverse.
-
Vasectomy. Men may choose to undergo a process that blocks their vas deferentia, through which sperm flow, preventing them from mixing with semen.[9] When the man ejaculates, his semen does not contain sperm, making it impossible for him to get a woman pregnant. Vasectomy may be reversed in some cases, but it should not be considered unless the intention is to become permanently sterilized.
- Use emergency contraception. Also called Plan B, emergency contraception consists of two pills containing levonorgestrel that are ingested as soon as possible after sexual intercourse.[10] The sooner they are taken, the more effective they are at preventing pregnancy.Emergency contraception is available at most pharmacies and from your healthcare provider.Emergency contraception should not be a replacement for regular birth control; it's a last resort to be take after unprotected sex.

Breast Sucking good for you? #Breast
The female breasts, also known as “the twins” or “the girls”, have remained the most conspicuous and attractive feature of the female sexual organ. Perhaps, its strategic positioning and function adds to its importance in the life of a woman.
Besides the age long biological function of the breasts as a source of food and nourishment for babies, the breast is also a major source of sexual attraction for the male specie, just as it is also a key sexual organ for the woman, highly sensitive to stimulation. The fact that they come in various shapes and sizes, further add to their uniqueness and endearing place in our hearts as humans.
As a sexual organ, the breasts have been known to give immense pleasure to both men and women during sexual encounters. In fact, some women have reportedly disclosed that they are capable of achieving orgasm even when thoroughly stimulated through sucking and caressing of the breasts alone. Though, because of this highly sensitive nature, some women find it very uncomfortable or even painful to submit their twin girls to constant sexual manipulation of any kind. Interestingly, men are constantly drawn to the breasts. A lot of this attraction has been attributed to psychological composition, perception and beliefs. For, pray, why would a full grown man be obsessed with sucking some mounds of milkless breasts? I don’t often get logical answers to this question when I ask. The function of the breasts in sexual behaviour has been attributed to human Face -to -Face copulation that is unusual among other mammals. Since the breast already serves the function of mother-infant bonding, then it is also excellent for male -female bonding, says an argument. After all, it is just within reach.
For those familiar with some of the social media platforms, you would have come across a particular message that has been making the rounds for a couple of years now. Purportedly attributed to the BBC as source, this message usually springs out during the cancer awareness months and in support of cancer prevention campaign. As expected, it elicits a wide range of controversies from both men and women, from humour to disdain and sexual innuendoes, while some others believe the content hook, line and sinker. The purported message is claimed to have been issued by the Ministry of Health in the fight against breast cancer. One of the versions I have received read thus:
Very soon, women will be paying men to have their breasts sucked! According to a report on BBC website, Doctors recommend that women reduce the risk of getting breast cancer by having their breasts sucked thoroughly and vigorously. It is said that regular sucking of the breast lowers the risk level that tends to build up lumps leading to breast cancer. The breast must be sucked as often as possible. Help women fight breast cancer today. Men, please do your part and suck a breast now! And women, please endeavour to make it available regularly…… This message is from the Ministry of Health in the fight against breast cancer. I have tried several times without success to get a confirmation for this story on the mentioned websites including cancer.org and some others in related fields. But perhaps, someone out there knows the original and authentic source of this message? Please share it with us!
As interesting as this message may be, as well as the different responses it receives anytime it is being passed around, depending on which side of the divide you find yourself, I am more worried about the health implications attached. Cancer is not something to make jokes out of as it claims millions of lives across the world every year. Again, some frightened lady who hitherto was not in favour of breast sucking may easily submit herself to torture with the belief that she is suffering for a good reason. Please, let us not confuse issues. Breast feeding is not the same as breast sucking. Breast feeding is the process of feeding new born and infants with breast milk. It is this that has been medically proven to be of immense benefit to both mother and child and can prevent breast cancer. There are no scientifically proven studies indicating that breast sucking is of any medical benefit to the the woman whose breast is being sucked or the person doing the sucking.
However, what has been scientifically proven is the fact that breast sucking when properly performed is of immense pleasure to the woman and may sometime on its own lead to orgasm or when combined with some other forms of sexual stimulation will help a woman to achieve orgasm quicker. Again, neither has any research shown that breast sucking can give a woman cancer. So ladies, please relax and allow your guys do the job for you. if you are not enjoying the way he is doing it, tell him. I can assure you, it’s a win-win situation.

DELSU recommends dismissal of 5 lecturers for sexual assault, abuse of office
ABRAKA—FIVE lecturers of Delta State University, DELSU, Abraka, have been recommended for sack by a disciplinary committee of the institution set up to investigate various offences, including sexual harassment of female students and financial extortion for marks.
The recommendation of the committee is coming 13 months after the institution dismissed three lecturers for alleged professional misconduct, including a lecturer in the Department of Theatre Arts, who was caught pants down with examination scripts in the room of a 400 level female student in the same department. Vanguard gathered that one of the lecturers (name withheld) of the Department of Primary/ Nursery Education was caught pants down in a hotel room within Abraka and detained for two days at the Abraka police station while trying to have his way with a female student, who had pretended to have succumbed to his sexual advances but to find out she had reported to the police.
A former Head of Basic Medical Sciences Department and traditional chief (name withheld) was also recommended for dismissal over alleged sexual harassment and collection of various sums of money from his students in a bid to pass them in their exams.
Though management of the institution is yet to issue a statement on the matter, the university’s Public Relations Officer, Mr. Edward Agbure, when contacted said that the fate of the lecturers would be determined by the DELSU Governing Council.
UNIOSUN lecturer in deep mess over sex video
Dr. Ojoniyi’s trouble started after a 30-minute video tape showing his alleged sexcapade with one Mercy Ikwue, a 400 level English student of the institution, Mercy Ikwue. Although a lot of people who have watched the video claimed the lecturer sexually molested the female student, the whole ‘show’ was recorded in a hotel and the sexual intercourse was not captured in the video. There was also no attempt by the man in the video to coerce of force the female student in question to cooperate with him.
In a petition written to The Punch, some students of the university claimed that Ojoniyi was instrumental to the suspension of the female student, after she was allegedly caught for examination malpractices. On her return to the university after the one academic session rustication, the petition claimed the lecturer mounted pressure on the student for an amorous affair but the lady resisted him.
It was further learnt that the lady confided in some persons, who advised her to set a trap for Dr Ojoniyi by agreeing to his love advances. She eventually went to the agreed hotel room and met him. In the video, which was also made available to The Punch, the female student set up a laptop directly opposite the bed and pretended to be watching the ‘Things Fall Apart’ film on it but she was recording the sexual activity.
Although there was no act of sexual intercourse captured in the video, the man in the video was seen stark naked and caressing the student occasionally. In the video, Ikwue was seen throwing her blue top on the bed from an angle she knew the camera could not cover. She also ensured that the camera lense did not capture her when she removed her trousers. She wore her top throughout the 34-minute duration of the ‘show’ and used the bed-sheet as a wrapper.
The man came to the bed naked not knowing the kind of trap set for him and dangled his manhood throughout the show. The audio quality of the video clip was poor but some of the conversations can still be heard. The female student said at one point: “Give me my transport. I am not asking for any other money, just give me my transport fare. Why is your thing (private part) dropping like this, haven’t you done it in recent time. Before I went on suspension, why didn’t you plead on my behalf? You knew about it joo.”
Ojoniyi when asked by our correspondent if he was aware of the video said he had heard of it. He said: “I also heard of the video. It is being investigated.” Asked if he believed that the video was a handiwork of those who might want to bring him down, he said: “ People can do anything, but I cannot be brought down.”
