Boy reveals how his mother used a pestle to kill his father in his sleep

Based on a report from Vanguard on September 27th, 2023, a 12-year-old boy named Ibukun Solomon has provided an account of how his mother, Tayelolu, fatally attacked his father, Felix, while he was asleep following a minor argument in Ondo town, Ondo State.

According to Vanguard's findings, the mother of three allegedly used a pestle to strike her 65-year-old husband, who was a farmer, three times while he was sleeping in their residence at the Government Reservation Area (GRA) in Ondo town.

Sources indicate that the couple had been experiencing ongoing conflicts, and the wife had a history of threatening to kill her husband and leave him.

On the most recent occasion, after another argument, the husband went to sleep on a chair, and the wife proceeded to repeatedly hit him with a pestle.

The son, Ibukun, who witnessed the incident, shared with the press that his mother used the pestle to strike his father's head, causing him to lose consciousness and eventually pass away.

Realizing that her husband was unconscious, the mother hid the pestle behind their house and fled the scene.

Ibukun sought help from neighbors who promptly rushed his father to the hospital, but unfortunately, he did not survive. His body was subsequently taken to the morgue.

A brother of the deceased expressed his dismay over the tragic event, revealing that the family had made multiple attempts to mediate and resolve the escalating fights between his brother and sister-in-law. However, all their efforts proved futile.

He disclosed that the woman had made previous threats to kill her husband during their altercations, which the deceased had informed the family about. However, they never expected her to carry out such a horrendous act.

The brother emphasized that this time, she took matters into her own hands and unjustly ended their brother's life. He insisted that she should be apprehended and face appropriate legal consequences.

Efforts to contact the state police spokesperson, Funmi Odunlami, were unsuccessful. Nevertheless, a high-ranking police officer has confirmed to Vanguard that the fleeing suspect will be apprehended soon and charged with murder.
