Landlady and Husband Fleeing After Allegedly Disposing of Tenant's Body in Canal

According to a report from Punch News on May 13, 2024, a landlady named Bola Abiodun and her husband, known as Sunday, have fled their home in the Temidire community of Ifo Local Government Area in Ogun State. They are accused of disposing of their tenant's body in a nearby canal.

The incident took place on May 8, 2024, around 12:05 pm, prompting the state police command to launch a manhunt for the couple after they went missing following the alleged crime.

An anonymous police source revealed that the tenant, referred to as Iya Ibukun, had been involved in a hit-and-run accident on May 5, 2024. Due to concerns about the cost of medical treatment, she resorted to self-medication for her injuries. Sadly, she passed away a few days later in her apartment.

The landlady, Bola Abiodun, and her husband, Sunday, allegedly removed the tenant's body from the room and disposed of it in a nearby canal. Concerned residents reported their suspicions to the chairman of the Community Development Association, Mosuru Akindele, and the youth leader, Olabode Kazeem.

Confirming the incident, the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, acknowledged that the police were working to recover the body from the canal. During their investigation, the police discovered a two-year-old boy in a welfare facility at the house. However, despite an extensive search of the canal, the body has not been found yet.

In a separate incident that occurred a few years ago, a landlord named Sunday Omosule was arrested for allegedly killing a tenant's four-year-old son with a pestle in Onipanu, Ota, Ogun State. The arrest was made after a distress call was received by the state Police Command, and during interrogation, the landlord claimed that he was under a spiritual attack.
