A man has been arrested by the police in Kaduna State for the abduction and murder of his six-year-old cousin. The tragic incident took place in the Makarfi Local Government Area of the state. The perpetrator allegedly used a razor to kill the young girl and then disposed of her body in a well. The arrest was made following an intensive investigation by the Anti Kidnapping Unit of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID).
The father of the victim, Mr. Saidu Dahiru, reported the disappearance of his daughter, Aisha Saidu, to the Zaria City police station on February 12, 2024. Aisha was on her way to Islamiyya school when she was reportedly abducted by her cousin's brother, Abdulazeez Idris, who also resided in Angwan Juma’a, Zaria.
Shortly after Aisha went missing, her father received a phone call from an unknown person demanding a ransom of N8 million for her safe return. The case was subsequently transferred to the Anti Kidnapping Unit of the SCID in Kaduna, which successfully traced and apprehended the suspect, Abdulazeez Idris, in the Makarfi Local Government Area.
During interrogation, the suspect confessed to the heinous crime, admitting that he killed the young girl by slashing her neck with a razor blade because she recognized him. He then proceeded to dispose of her lifeless body in a well.
The Commissioner of Police, Audu Dabigi, assured the public that the case would be diligently investigated to ensure justice for Aisha Saidu and her grieving family. Once the investigation is concluded, the suspect will be charged to court.
