According to information provided by Punch on May 9, 2024, the Ogun State Police Command has arrested a 71-year-old landlord, known as Adesina, for allegedly sexually assaulting and impregnating his 14-year-old tenant's daughter in Ifesowapo Akute, Ifo Local Government Area of the state.
The incident reportedly occurred on Tuesday, April 9, 2024, at around 10:15 pm in the bathroom of the house. The residents and other tenants were shocked when they discovered the septuagenarian engaging in sexual intercourse with the teenage girl. The young girl had gone into the bathroom to take a shower when the landlord followed her inside and the act was witnessed by some community members and neighbors who raised the alarm. The Ajuwon Police Division was alerted and they arrested the landlord at the scene.
Following the arrest, the victim's father took her to the hospital for a medical examination upon the advice of the police and others. The test results revealed that the girl was approximately six weeks pregnant, indicating that this was not the first occurrence of sexual abuse.
The spokesperson for the Ogun State Police Command, Omolola Odutola, confirmed the incident and stated that the landlord had been arrested and detained. The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation.
This is not the first instance of such a crime in the state. In November 2023, a 76-year-old man named David Ogunsanwo was apprehended by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps for allegedly defiling a 16-year-old girl who was also pregnant in the Abeokuta area of Ogun State.
