The Dangers of Consuming Rotten Tomatoes: Health Risks and Aflatoxin

According to information provided by the Nigerian Tribune, a nutritionist advises maintaining a diet consisting of 80% alkaline and 20% acidic food. The nutritionist, identified as Holbrooke, highlights the dangers of consuming rotten tomatoes, which can lead to liver damage, hinder child development, and even cause miscarriages due to contamination by aflatoxins.

The presence of mycotoxins in rotten tomatoes poses a significant risk to liver health and overall well-being. In contrast, fresh tomatoes are known for their antioxidant properties that protect against cell damage. Fresh tomatoes also contain lycopene, a beneficial plant compound associated with heart health, cancer prevention, and sunburn protection.

Holbrooke explains that consuming rotten tomatoes is unsafe and can result in liver damage. For pregnant women with excessive mycotoxin levels, it can lead to stunted child development. Aflatoxins, which are poisonous to the liver, negatively impact its functioning. The liver plays a crucial role in promoting both beneficial and harmful substances in the body. When aflatoxins overwhelm the liver, it impairs its functions. Aflatoxins can cause immune deficiency in animals and severe liver damage in humans. Rotten tomatoes, known to contain aflatoxins, have been associated with various health challenges.

Aflatoxins are poisonous substances produced by certain types of fungi or molds. They occur naturally worldwide and can contaminate food crops, posing significant health risks to humans and livestock.

Consuming rotten tomatoes can have serious consequences, including liver damage, hindered child development, and an increased risk of cancer. The presence of aflatoxins in rotten tomatoes further exacerbates the health risks. Aflatoxins, which are toxic substances produced by specific molds, have the potential to contaminate food crops and pose severe threats to human and animal health.
